Victorian operations relocate to DEXUS’ 385 Bourke Street, Melbourne
MELBOURNE, 17 November 2016: Leading global commercial real estate services firm, Cushman & Wakefield, has substantially strengthened its Australian agency platform with the appointment of Dominic Long as Managing Director, Corporate Real Estate (CRE), Victoria, effective 5th December 2016.
The appointment marks a significant milestone in the growth of Cushman & Wakefield’s Victorian and broader Australian agency platform, which has grown steadily over the last 18 months. Over this period, Cushman & Wakefield have grown its Australian team by around 100 new agency appointments as it continues to embed its market position.
Dominic will sit on the Cushman & Wakefield CRE board in Australia and New Zealand.
Dominic joins Cushman & Wakefield following over 10 years as Managing Director of Savills Victoria, where he was instrumental in driving substantial growth. In this role Dominic facilitated major corporate and M&A activity and managed in excess of 130 staff operating across sales, leasing, management and valuations of commercial, industrial and retail property.
Prior to that, Dominic held senior management positions with Ireland’s largest property developer, Hardwicke, where he spent 20 years with the business.
The appointment also coincides with Cushman & Wakefield’s relocation to DEXUS Property Group’s 385 Bourke Street office in the Melbourne CBD, where the business has taken up 2 floors, totalling 2,400m2.
Cushman & Wakefield’s Chief Executive James Patterson said: “I am very pleased and extremely excited to welcome Dominic to the Cushman & Wakefield leadership team, and his appointment comes at a critical time in the growth of the company’s business in Australia and New Zealand.
“Dominic’s appointment and the relocation to 385 Bourke Street is a major step in establishing and building a presence in the Victorian market in line with our strategic expansion in New South Wales and Queensland. In a very short period we have rapidly built an agency platform on the eastern seaboard. We continue to assemble agency teams that reflect Cushman & Wakefield’s leading global position with a strong, nimble and fresh approach to deliver the best results for our clients in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Mr. Long commented: “the prospect of being part of Cushman and Wakefield’s rapid growth in Australia was very attractive to me, and I see the strength of its global agency operation as a major competitive advantage.
I was attracted by two major factors – the culture that already exists within the organisation and the opportunity to lead an agency business that leverages off such an extensive Global Occupier Services platform which dominates the market in ANZ.
“The scale and quality of clients that already exist within the business creates a unique and exciting opportunity, and I look forward to working with the team as we continue to grow Cushman & Wakefield’s Australian footprint.”
This appointment follows on from recent appointments including Matt Hudson and Ben Tremellen as National Directors in Retail Leasing, Tom Barrier as Sales & Investments Director in NSW and Markus Eames, Director in Investment Sales, Queensland.
